Lurendrejeri på högsta nivå! Säljer produkter med viss funktionalitet. Sedan begränsar man den bakom en betalvägg. Sedan slutar deras system att fungera. Nu skyller man till höger och vänster på ”uppgraderingar” osv. Undvik dessa skojare till varje pris!

Being a Telldus client for over 10 years now, I've been using their Tellstick Net to remote control several Intertechno actors in and around my house. The unit depends on settings and schedules managed by an external Telldus server which has already proven to have its downsides, as the Tellstick is often blinking blue because the server seems to be down (maybe DDOS-attacked?).

However, Telldus just informed me (in plain Swedish btw) that the basic service will be stripped from using schedules in April 2023 because "they need more money" (in a manner of speaking). Thus, I'm facing the pest or cholera alternative to either pay them some EUR 25 per year to automatically turn my garden lights on and off, or to stop using their ecosystem and switch to another solution.

I find this a good example on why one should never buy hardware which depends on services run by third parties. While I can relate to the desire to increase your own income, I find it unfair to alter the terms of a product later on. I won't invest recurring fees into this unfair offer and rather invest my dimes into new hardware which makes me independent from greedy service providers. I'll have to remove the otherwise perfectly working Tellstick, though (please google "obselence by software" as well).
